Soccer Nations BRAZIL is a hybrid between a platformer and a soccer game. Play football to reach the finish line. Choose Free Play and beat an infinite number of increasingly hard opponent countries.
During the European Championships of 2012, we were inspired. Not so much by the football itself, but by the appearance of Mario Ballotelli and his nickname: Super Mario. We made a parody video of a pixelated Ballotelli who runs through a Nintendo world playing football. That was the basis for the current game. The idea was shaped on. After the parody movie, we now wanted now to make a real game. Not only with Super Mario Ballotelli, but all kinds of heroes, from many countries. Players can choose their own favorite. We replaced the Nintendo world by the location of the upcoming World Cup: Brazil.

Although at first we just wanted to make an entertaining game, during the run-up to the World Cup we became more and more aware of the living conditions in the country. Brazil is a beautiful tropical country, but life is not nearly easy everywhere. This can be seen in the game. When starting, you’re certainly not a rich superstar. No, you are all alone. You have to make it in a world full of risks and obstacles by playing football, from dangerous nature to heaps of garbage. You’re entirely on your own. The game is also optimistic: If you manage to survive, and you’re able to make it all the way to the stadium, through the dirt and industrial mazes, you can eventually win and become the champion!
We aim to appeal a large audience with this game. We will release the game on as many platforms as we can (iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8), in as many languages as we can (fourteen in the first release). We have also chosen to release this game for free. It is possible (but not necessary) to ‘buy off’ the ads by making a donation. Should the game generate some revenue, we would like to further this concept further: more levels, animations, polish, chiptunes for all the national anthems, more countries, more players. Perhaps in the future, other sports. We also have some other projects on the shelves, that we’d like to get working on.

Van der Feest Games consists of Stephan van der Feest and Marie-José Vincent.
Stephan is a multi-talented game developer. With other colleagues he recently published the game Bezircle. He also teaches Game Design and Game Technology at the Amsterdam University of Applied Science. He is married to Marie-José.
Marie-José has a lively spirit, but a fragile health. On the bad days, she works out good ideas for our games. On the good days, she is responsible for making levels and digital art. The days in between, she’s mostly making art, lying on the couch with her iPad.
Together they form a strong team that bulges with inspiration. Projects waiting to get continued are, among others: GhostPact, a special 3D Augmented Reality game, and Fifty Wayd, an atmospheric platformer.
